Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR can be used effectively in the processing of overwhelming or traumatic memories and life experiences. The model encourages processing on cognitive, somatic and emotional levels without requiring clients to re-tell details of the event. It can also be useful in processing anticipated feelings associated with future events and in phobia work.
The EMDR process firstly resources clients skills for grounding, relaxation and accessing emotions, before using bi-lateral stimulation (eye-movement/touch/audio) to utilize the brains natural adaptive information processing system. Once a memory or experience has been fully processed it can then be recalled without overwhelming distress and emotional charge.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
EFT uses sequences of acupressure (aka ‘tapping’) on meridian points of the body which help to release and regulate energy.
EFT can be useful in the processing of feelings and emotions, pain management, phobias and for relaxation.
I use EFT as a standalone intervention or as a technique to compliment your counselling sessions.
